There was no doubting the result as Grove visited basement boys Chipping Norton in their Oxfordshire derby, but question marks remain over the scoreline!

Grove’s match report, submitted by club president John Sevier, records the score at 38-12, while the official result stands at 36-12.

The visitors led on five minutes when wing Harry Carr fed centre Nick Sevier to score between the posts, scrum half Roger Sevier converting.

Chippy levelled with a converted try, but Grove hit back immediately from the restart, creating a chance for Carr to touch down in the corner.

The hosts showed good spirit, but trailed 19-7 at the break when Roger Sevier converted a second try from his brother Nick.

Fly half Jamie Burns scored a super solo try, which Roger Sevier converted for 26-7.

Chippy gave themselves hope with a try, while Carr was denied a score due to a double movement.

Grove finished strongly, with Roger Sevier setting up and converting a try for prop Richard Keen. Carr danced his way over for a second try late on.

Oxford earned a four-try bonus point when losing 55-32 at Windsor.

Centre Matt O’Connor bagged the decisive score late on, with Dom Coe converting.

Missed tackles and errors gave Windsor the advantage, but Oxford fought till the end.

They scored first half tries from hooker Andy MacDonald and tight-head prop Alex Klimov, Coe converting both and kicking two penalties.

Coe notched Oxford’s third try himself in the second half.
