Oxford Hawks continued their march at the top of South League Premier Division 2 with a 2-1 win at Tulse Hill & Dulwich.

The Tulse Hill keeper made a string of good saves before a neat quick-passing move was rewarded with a goal scored by Tim Martin.

Hawks were dominant, but failed to score again and were let off when a well-struck back hand shot from Tulse Hill hit a post.

The Oxford side were finally rewarded when Charlie Ellison scored a well-worked short corner.

Tulse Hill pulled one back with ten minutes to go from a narrow angle.

Banbury also made a good start to the new year with a 3-2 win over relegation rivals Old Georgians in Premier 1.

They were without Tyson Nunneley but welcomed back former captain Charlie Murphy. His return seemed to add a bit more solidity to the Banbury defence.

Richard Foreman grabbed his first league goal of the season and Australian Andy Philpott capped his man-of-the-match performance with the second.

Old Georgians were gifted a short corner when George Brooker offended, and their South African international Ryan Van der Reit flicked the ball low into the goal.

Adrian Simons returned from the sin bin to restore Banbury’s two-goal advantage.

Although Simons was again sin-binned, and Van der Reit got a second goal, Banbury held out.

Fifteen-year-old Kieron Ratcliffe made a promising debut in City of Oxford’s 2-0 win over Rover Oxford 2nd.

Andy Small got both goals, while 17-year-old Matt Hogben also made two good saves in the City goal.

Wallingford were beaten 4-3 by Slough in a rescheduled MBB&O Regional League game.

Horatio Cary scored twice and Tim Chamberlain got the other as Wallingford hit back from 3-1 to level with 15 minutes remaining.

But with five minutes left, Slough grabbed a winner.
