Henley Hawks had No 8 Matt Payne sent off as they lost 41-16 at leaders Ealing.

Payne was red-carded for careless use of the boot at the end of the first half.

Full back James Comben kicked Henley ahead with a second-minute penalty.

Hawks captain Andy Dalgleish was sin-binned and two penalties from full back Neil Hallett put Ealing 6-3 ahead.

Openside flanker Adam Holloway restored Henley’s lead with a 27th-minute try, converted by Comben.

The lead changed hands after Payne’s dismissal when Hallett converted a try from flanker Karl Gibson, but Comben’s second penalty made it 13-13.

Wing Phil Chesters’s try and Hallett’s conversion took it to 20-13 at half-time.

Henley could manage only one more Comben three-pointer in the whole of the second half, while Ealing romped home.

Hallett struck penalties on 43, 49 and 65 minutes before the prolific Chesters completed a try hat-trick with scores on 76 and 78 minutes.

The latter was converted by Hallett as Ealing kept five points clear.
