Henley Hawks dropped from fourth to seventh after a disappointing 18-13 home defeat to Dings Crusaders.

Dings have proved poor travellers in recent times, but were 8-0 up in ten minutes.

Former Henley fly half Mitch Burton’s kick was touched down by wing Pierre Tucker, with Burton soon adding a penalty.

Dings’ defence was hard to breach, but Hawks managed it once as No 8 Matt Payne fed Ali James to power through and fellow centre Danny Wells converted.

Hawks prop Ant Brennan was yellow-carded before Dings No 8 Gavin Curry scored from a crum, Burton converting and adding a penalty.

Henley had plenty of second-half possession, and wing Christoph Bart twice went close, but two Wells penalties was all they could muster.

Wells missed a third penalty by a fraction that might have unnerved Dings.
