Oxfordshire's Team AV-IT Racing clinched the Hottrax Junior 1000 Endurance motor cycling championship with a win at the final round at Cadwell Park.

The riders, Andy Carpenter, 43, and Marcus Langford, 31, both from Chipping Norton, were competing in the championship, which is contested by more than 30 teams, for the first time.

Carpenter, a former rally driver, rode a Honda 1000 RR superbike and Langford rode a Yamaha R1 in the endurance races, which are a two-rider, two-bike team over a three-hour race with a ‘Le Mans’ style start.

Carpenter said: “It was our first attempt at this championship which was held over seven rounds.

“We won the first round, and the final two after I had a huge accident at Anglesey mid-season.

“This meant the bike had to be rebuilt by preparation company Go Race Developments (Witney) in time for the final two rounds.

“There is great emphasis on teamwork and race strategy, as much as riding the bikes as fast as possible.”

Support has also come from DG Carpenter Ltd, and Michelin tyres.
