Oxford Stadium are celebrating after being awarded a new BAGS contract for next year.
The contract, a lifeline for greyhound stadia, is worth nearly £1m a year e.
And it’s no secret that Oxford and a few other tracks would be really struggling, if the financial input was not forthcoming.
Oxford must be doing something right as they were one of, if not, the first track in the country to introduce the afternoon meetings in the 60s.
Racing manager Gary Baiden said: “From our point of view it’s good for the trainers, owners and staff.
“More importantly, the financial aspect is great in the current climate.
“It also helps us to concentrate on good evening meetings, and is a feather in the cap of the staff that we have got the contract again.”
The new contract is for 52 Friday meetings and 51 onSundays.
