North Leigh lifted themselves out of the bottom two with a 4-1 victory at Andover in Zamaretto Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Man-of-the-match Alfie Saunders led the way with a brace as the visitors went 4-0 ahead.

Saunders cut in off the left wing to unleash his first goal on 16 minutes, then bagged his second with a free-kick that deceived everyone and bounced into the top corner.

On 40 minutes, Adam Lonsdale made a fine save from Andover’s Chris Brookman, prompting a North Leigh counter attack that ended with Matty Taylor firing in from 30 yards.

George Redknap headed home Saunders’s corner on 53 minutes, while Sam Floyd’s header pulled one back for the hosts on 69 minutes.

Banbury United were left aggrieved by their 2-1 Premier Divison defeat at Stourbridge.

The visitors felt Lyndon Dovey was off-side when he bagged Stourbridge’s winner after 74 minutes.

Dovey gave Stourbridge the lead on 49 minutes just after Banbury’s Ollie Stanbridge had had his shot brilliantly saved by Lewis Solly.

Banbury levelled on 57 minutes when Solly saved Scott Cross’s shot, but Nabil Sharif followed up to score.

A dominant Didcot Town won 1-0 at Abingdon United in round two of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup.

Alex Stanley headed home the only goal from Morgan Williams’s 25th- minute free-kick, while Didcot’s Reece Connolly lobbed onto the top of the bar.

Connolly later blazed over after rounding keeper Alan Foster, who saved superbly from Michael Hopkins.
