Former Abingdon United defender Julian McCalmon has rejected a move to Didcot Town.

McCalmon, who plays for Barton in the Autotype UTV League, was due to be included in Didcot’s squad for tonight’s trip to his old club in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, but has changed his mind.

“He signed the forms and then I got a message saying he couldn’t play because of the travelling involved,” said Didcot boss Stuart Peace.

However, Richard Hill has agreed to return to Didcot as coach just months after he left Loop Meadow Stadium. It follows the release of Shaun Wimble.

Peace added: “Richard has been away coaching in Africa, but he’s now back at the club. It’s a good signing for us.”

Didcot will be without the injured Michael Alexis, Elliott Osbourne- Ricketts, Josh Dutton-Black and Tom Bucknor tonight.

Meanwhile, Wimble is now in talks with Abingdon boss Richie Bourne about a move to Northcourt Road.

Bourne will be without suspended duo Tom Melledew and Tom Franklin.

Banbury United visit Stourbridge in the Zamaretto Southern League Premier Division.

The Puritans lost 2-1 at Billericay in the FA Carlsberg Trophy on Saturday, but manager Billy Jeffrey said: “We played really well and I can’t fault the lads’ attitude and their application.”

North Leigh travel to Andover in Division 1 South & West.
