Rover Oxford Ladies lost 3-2 to Oxford University at Headington School in South Clubs’ League Division 2.
In one of the few ladies’ league matches to take place, Rover went in front from a short corner which captain Hie Sawyer struck brilliantly into the backboard.
However, Rover failed to hold onto their lead for long, as the university replied quickly with an equally well-worked short corner routine.
The students then scored again, with a low flick just inside the post, and a third, from another short corner.
Rover battled back well in the second half, however, with Lucy Eddowes making excellent runs and Jill Gordon some important interceptions.
They pulled a second goal back two minutes from time, a short corner deflecting into the net off Eddowes’s stick.
Wallingford notched their sixth win out of six, beating Maidenhead 2nd 3-0, to go four points clear at the top of Trysports 3 Counties League Premier 1.
Tazz Mottram, Kirsty Ross and Jess Bryson got the goals.
Oxford Hawks 2nd crushed Rover Oxford 2nd 8-0 in the same division.
Bicester beat Wallingford 2nd 11-0 in a friendly with hat-tricks from Charlie Williams and Lilla Venning.
