James Serrano’s dramatic late try earned Chinnor a 25-21 victory at Weston-Super-Mare in National 3 South West.
Weston fly half James Mackay looked to have won the game with a 77th-minute drop goal, but in the final play wing Serrano’s greater desire saw him win the chase to ground fly half James Cathcart’s cross-kick.
Cathacrt added the conversion to complete a superb comeback after Chinnor had trailed 18-8.
Chinnor began with a bang as wing Baz Corpe fed centre Huw Morgan for a first-minute try.
Weston soon hit back when centre James Reid punished a poor clearance to run in a score converted by Mackay.
The hosts’ dominance was rewarded when No 8 Graham Sparks went over for a seond try.
Mackay and Cathcart traded penalties to see Weston lead 15-8 at half-time.
Another Mackay penalty made it 18-8, but Chinnor hit back when centre Matt Goode powered over, Cathcart converting.
Chinnor had skipper Matt Hutchings sin-binned, but they held out and were boosted when Weston wing Kirk Middlemiss was yellow-carded.
Cathcart levelled it with a long-range penalty on 74 minutes before the pulsating finale.
