Abingdon Utd 1 (Gardner pen 14)

Frome Tn 4 (Bridgham pen 3, White 10, 36, 48)

Abingdon United were blown away by a Darren White hat-trick as Frome Town ran out comfortable winners in Division 1 South & West at Northcourt Road.

Frome’s Josh Brigham scored from the penalty spot after three minutes.

Things quickly got worse for Abingdon when Luke Carnell went down as he battled for the ball and despite appeals for a foul the referee allowed play to continue, leaving White to run on and slip the ball under Jon Beames.

Abingdon puleld one back when Jon Gardner smashed home a penalty awarded for handball.

And they went close to equalising when Luke Carnell twice had headers from Chris Harper corners cleared off the line.

But they fell further behind in the 36th minute when White headed home at the far post for his second goal.

The Frome striker completed his hat-trick two minutes into the second half, heading home a flick on from a corner.

John Mills had a fierce shot saved by Town keeper Darren Chitty, who then blocked the Abingdon striker’s follow up.
