BANBURY and Witney occ-upy the top two places in South Clubs’ League Division 3A after impressive wins.

Banbury went top by thrashing leaders Staines 4-1.

Mel Wilkinson scored their first, and although Staines levelled from a short corner, Banbury were bang at it in the second half.

First stand-in keeper Suzie Pollock made two fine saves, then goals followed from Ali Sturla, at a short corner, Hayley Nunneley, after a brilliant bit of individual skill, and Ann Glover, from another well-worked short corner.

Witney are now a point behind after Saddie Lapper slammed in five goals, having earlier missed a flick!

Joy Mangazi, scoring from an acute angle, and Anna Kirk, rounding the keeper to slot home, also netted.

Julia Nichols was outstanding as City of Oxford recovered from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Marlow.

Chloe Guyatt pulled one back before half-time.

There were chances for both teams before skipper Rachel Lammey levelled.

Oxford Hawks lost 3-2 at home to second-placed Guildford in Division 1.

In the biggest test of their season so far, Hawks were unable to show the decisiveness that has been central to their game so far.

Guildford took the lead, but Becky Odlin finished off an effective team short corner to level before the break.

Again the visitors went in front, and an excellent strike from Sita Haines brought Hawks level.

But they began to make mistakes all over the pitch, and Guildford punished them from a short corner.

Still looking for their first win in Division 2, Rover Oxford lost 2-0 at Maidenhead, who struck twice in the opening 15 minutes.

Suzie Williams and Katie Cox made some important tackles to keep the score down.

Wallingford stormed to the top of Premier 1 in the Trysports 3 Counties League with an 8-0 win away to Rover Oxford 2nd. Goals came from Jess Bryan (2), Jude Turner, Suzi Ellis, Katie Booth, Kirsty Ross, Tasmynn Mottramm and Jess Allen.
