Wantage Tn 7 (Butler 53, 89, Claydon 66, pen 68, McCullough 87, Jones 90, Keen 90)

Finchampstead 1 (Cattell og 30)

Wantage scored all seven goals in the second half, and four in the last three minutes, as they romped to victory in the first round of the Bluefin Insurance Brokers Cup on Saturday in the UHL Sport Hellenic league.

The visitors went in front on the half hour when Stuart Cattell’s attempted clearance zipped past keeper, Gareth Tucker.

The second half saw Wantage take complete control.

Tom Butler equalised eight minutes after the break, then Richard Claydon fired his side in front.

Two minutes later, visiting keeper Jack Skinner was sent off for bringing down Claydon in the box, the Wantage striker stepping up to net his second of the game.

It remained 3-1 until three minutes from time, when, amazingly, Wantage scored four more goals.

Liam McCullough made it 4-1, before Butler netted his second and Wantage’s fifth.

Gavin Jones lashed home a left-footed shot for No 6, and the scoring wasn’t done yet as Danny Keen completed the rout.

Clanfield 2 (C Mays 40, D Mays 88)

Newbury 1 (S Olphert og 85)

Clanfield secured their place in the second round after this hard-fought and feisty encounter with Division 1 East high-fliers Newbury.

They went in front five minutes before the break when Karl Dickenson won the ball in a strong challenge before feeding Kevin Lewis.

Lewis’s cut-back from the byeline found Craig Mays, who fired home from the edge of the box.

Newbury were then reduced to ten men when Harry Goodgear was sent off for a bad foul.

Extra-time looked on the cards when Steve Olphert put through his own net, but Dean Mays restored Clanfield’s lead two minutes from time, and they held on for victory.

Flackwell Heath 6 (Cannon 25, Jordan 28, Paget 30, Poulton 37, Sturgess 45, Thompson 90)

Headington Amateurs 5 (Morbey 34, Williams 51, 52, Jacob 79, L Cuff 83)

Headington were 5-1 down at half-time and facing humiliation, but a stirring second-half fightback saw them draw level – only to then concede a last minute goal in their second-round tie.

A five-minute spell midway through the first half saw Flackwell go 3-0 up through Ricardo Cannon, Danny Jordan and Adam Paget.

Liam Morbey reduced the arrears, heading home Luke Cuff’s cross, but Flackwell took a 5-1 lead with further goals from Nathan Poulton and Ben Sturgess.

Headington were vastly improved after the break.

Aaron Williams scored twice in a minute, then Shaun Jacob pulled another goal back to make it 5-4.

Cuff then netted the equaliser, drilling home a low shot, but with extra time looming, Lee Thompson hit Headington on the break for a late winner.

Abingdon Tn 5 (aet) Constant 36, 106, Forbes 53, 110, Gordon 56)

Abingdon Town stormed into a 3-0 lead, but needed extra time to overcome Old Woodstock.

Jelroy Constant, Dean Forbes and Sam Gordon put Abingdon in control, but Woodstock rallied to for extra time with three goals in the last 12 minutes.

Ryan Brooks netted a double, including a penalty, before Luke Ingram fired home a last-minute equaliser.

Woodstock had to play extra time with ten men after Adam Doyle was sent off for two bookings, and Abingdon wrapped up the tie with a stunning 30-yard strike from Constant and a second goal from Forbes.
