Almondsbury 1 (White 58)

Didcot Tn 0

Didcot gave an insipid display as they bowed out to Almondsbury on Saturday, who play one division below them in the Zamaretto Southern League.

The hosts took the game to Didcot in the early stages, Michael Whittington’s diving header flashing wide of keeper Tom Bucknor’s far post.

Didcot’s attitude seemed to be to soak up the pressure and attempt to nick a goal at some stage.

However, the hosts’ sturdy rearguard kept the Railwaymen down to one chance in the first half.

Alex Stanley and Jamie Heapy combined to play in Morgan Williams, who sliced his shot wide.

Didcot got to the interval unscathed, but Almondsbury scored the only goal 13 minutes after half-time.

Dave Anyinsah’s skill and trickery out on the right wing wrong-footed Stanley and a composed pass played in Joe White, who converted with a smart finish.

A Heapy header almost restored parity, while young substitute Michael Hopkins saw his shot cannon back off the inside of ae post.
