Wallingford’s juniors completed their season on a high with seven victories in the Worcester Autumn Regatta over a 500m course.

All nine of their crews reached finals. The youngsters competed in 25 races, winning 22 with one dead-heat and just two narrow defeats. In the J18 age group, Ed Hares took the single sculls before joining up with Jack Whelan in their double scull to power to another victory.

Wallingford’s two J16 doubles both reached the final where, the younger crew of George Axon and Jasper Lynch narrowly won.

In J16 singles, Elijah Hayden reached the final with two wins before losing to Worcester by half a length.

The J15 girls excelled, winning all their classes.

The quad prevailed in a tight race with Worcester to win by one foot and then beat Bewdley in the final.

The J15 double of Leanne Reeves and Hannah Whelan, gold medallists at National Schools Regatta, proved their pedigree with an easy win.

Whelan beat clubmate Alice Walker in the singles by a length and a half.

Axon and Lynch followed up their earlier success by reaching the final of the J15 double sculls where they dead-heated with Stourport. The re-row was a tight canvas win for Stourport.

In their first regatta, Lucy Walker, 12, and Beth Coombes took the J14 doubles.
