Carterton 1, Abingdon Tn 3

JAKE Howard bagged a brace as Abingdon came from a goal down to snatch all three points in their Premier Division clash at Carterton on Saturday.

Mark Threlfall lobbed Abingdon keeper Gareth Walker from distance to give Carterton an early lead.

But Town hit back to equalise after a great team goal, finished superbly by Jefferson Harriott.

A minute later, Howard fired Abingdon in front.

And Howard made it 3-1 with an unstoppable 30-yard strike early in the second half to seal victory and lift Town to fifth in the table.

Reading Tn 0, Witney Utd 0

WITNEY United clinched their first point on the road this season in a dull draw at Scours Lane.

Chances were at a premium in the first half, Sean McKeon being denied by a Chris Rackley block.

The second half saw an improvement, but little goalmouth action.

Witney keeper Dwayne Whylly made two important saves to deny Adam Kingsbeer, while Danny Lingwood struck a shot against the bar.

McKeon went close with a shot that flew over.

Witney, who had used all their substitutes, were reduced to ten men for the last ten minutes after Nagy was stretchered off following a rash challenge from Brett Rann.

Letcombe 0, Trowbridge Tn 1

WITH eight regulars missing, Letcombe slipped to a disappointing defeat in Division 1 West.

But they had their chances in the first half to take all three points.

Early on, Patrick Howe had a close-range shot blocked by Trowbridge keeper Nathan Taylor, while at the other end, Craig Payne made two fine saves to deny Paul Gittins.

Howe then saw another close-range effort blocked, while Matt Wilton drove the rebound over the bar.

Letcombe’s youthful side tired in the second half, and Trowbridge took advantage to seal victory when Gittins picked up a ball in midfield to lob Payne into the far corner of the net.
