Spinner Alex Davies was the star of the show as Oxfordshire cruised to a seven-wicket win over Herefordshire in the ECB Under 13 County Cup.
The result maintained Oxon’s perfect record in the competition with four wins out of four.
Having won the toss, Oxon had little hesitation about putting the opposition in and they soon made inroads into the Herefordshire top order.
Davies was the pick of the bowlers, returning 5-24, but there were also important contributions from Angus Brown (2-17) and seamer Hugo Campbell-Harris, who took 2-10 from 7.5 overs.
On a tricky pitch Oxfordshire’s batsmen were not going to allow Herefordshire’s bowling attack to dominate.
Tom Condon survived a good opening spell before being run out by a direct hit and captain Nick Lancaster looked in good touch until he was bowled by one that kept low.
However there were no further scares as James Fitzjohn and Connor Tinsley, joint top scorers with 29 apiece, ensured that Oxfordshire cruised home with over 15 overs to spare.
