Oxford City cruised to victory in McCain UK Young Athletes League Midland 1 Southeast at Horspath, beating the challenge of Bicester & Banbury by a massive margin of 166 points.

City produced 24 personal bests with some stunning individual performances.

Max Tavinor lowered his personal best in the under 15 boys’ 80m hurdles, producing a graded time of 13.6 secs.

He later knocked three seconds off his 400m pb, clocking 1.01.4.

Gift McLaren recorded 11.7 to win the under 17 boys’ 100m, and he doubled up to win the 200m in 24.00.

Other wins on the track came from Alex Cooper (under 15 800m), Ryan Meredith (under 17 3,000m and 1500m steeplechase), Adam Smith (under 13 200m), Marcus Woodington (under 17 400m) and Matthieu Marshall, who clocked a pb of 4.30.2 in the under 15 1500m.

Mark Warland led the way for City in the field as he posted three wins in the under 17 category, triumphing in the discus, hammer and long jump.

Tomasz Napiorkowski produced three pbs, with a shot put of 13.06m a discus throw of 35.33 and a hammer throw of 32.08.

Bicester’s Mark Smith bagged two victories in the 800m (2.30.2) and long jump (4.21m), while Tom Bosher won the under 15 boys’ high jump (1.70m) and long jump (5.67m).

Oxford City’s girls were also in outstanding form.

Alice Byles ran a pb of 11.2 in the under 13 girls’ 75m to take victory, while Beth Mulvany and Georgina Moss were first and second in the 800m.

Alice Finch and Jess Daniels posted a one-two in the under 15 girls’ 800m.

Simi Fajemisin won the under 13 150m in 20.8, with Amy Busby landing a 100 and 200m double in the under 15 category.

Emily Moore did likewise in the under 17 competition.

Over the longer distances, Beth Hawtin won the under 15 girls’ 1500m in 5.01.4, while her sister Lauren clocked 11.04.0 in the under 17 girls’ 3,000m.

Result: 1 Oxford City 658.5, 2 Bicester & Banbury 49.5, 3 Stratford-u-Avon 278.

RADLEY won their Midland 1 Southeast meeting at Swindon by 71 points.

There was a grade four performance from TJ McClimont in the under 13 boys’ 800m, which he won in 2.31.1, while Christian von Eitzen went one better with a grade 3 display to win the under 15 boys’ 1500m in 4.30.1.

In the field, Emma O’Hara produced a grade 2 distance of 35.52m to win the under 17 girls’ discus, and she also added victory in the hammer with a grade 3 throw of 35.00.
