A Magnificent century from Lloyd Sabin helped Banbury to a 170-run thrashing of Potters Bar in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League.

The home side must have been regretting asking the visitors to bat as they declared on 346-7 from 62 overs, before a five-wicket haul from Todd Gutteridge helped Banbury secure victory.

Sabin led the way with an impressive 114 off 168 balls, which included 15 fours and a six.

He and Edward Phillips put on 63 for the first wicket before the latter was stumped for 21.

Joining Sabin at the crease, Craig Haupt put together a quickfire partnership of 159, before the South African was caught for 81, his knock including nine fours and three sixes.

Nathan Hawkes then joined Sabin as the pair added a partnership of 72 before Hawkes fell just one run short of a half-century as Banbury soon closed their innings on 346-7.

In reply, Gutheridge ripped through the Potters Bar top order – taking the first five wickets – to leave the hosts reeling at 107-5.

The seamer returned the fine figures of 5-91 from 16 overs.

He was ably-assisted by Jimmy Phillips, who polished off the tail with 4-16 from only 8.1 overs, as Potters Bar were all out for 176.
