Oxford University made it four Varsity Match wins in succession by thrashing Cambridge by nine wickets on a memorable day in The Parks yesterday.

Declaring at their overnight 450-7, the Dark Blues skittled the visitors for 187 in their seond innings and then knocked off the 51 runs required with a flourish.

Once again it was the Oxford spinners who carried the day, Mike Munday following his six-wicket haul in the first innings with 5-66 for match figures of 11-143.

Nick Woods backed him with 3-46 as the pair bowled unchanged for 60 overs.

The Cambridge innings got off toa solid start with 75 for the first wicket, but then the spin twins got to work and wickets fell steadily.

Only South African Grant Celliers offered any real resistance with a fighting 61 not out.

It left the Dark Blues with plenty of time to knock off the runs, but they managed it in ten overs as first-innings centurion Sal Oberoi finished proceeding with two sixes and a four in one over.
