RUPERT Evans will make his first Home Counties Premier League Division 1 appearance of the season when Oxford host Tring Park tomorrow.

The veteran off-spinner, who was the division's leading wicket-taker in 2005, comes into the team alongside all-rounder Graham Charlesworth.

And with Oxford still searching for their first league win of 2006, captain Pat Jobson said it was a good time to go for experience.

"Rupert wasn't planning to play that much, but we need to win some games," he said.

"He is such a brilliant player, it doesn't matter how old he is.

"We've got a couple of people out this week in Joe Porter and Adam Cook, so it makes sense to bring in Graham and Rupert."

Oxford came within a whisker of defeating leaders High Wycombe last week, before they scrambled a one-wicket win in the final over.

Jobson said: "The umpires said that was the best game of cricket they had seen in ages, but it was little consolation.

"It just shows how good we are and what we are capable of doing."

Banbury skipper Benji Hector is not worried by their mid-table position ahead of their trip to Falkland.

Hector's side, who are unchanged, last week collected their fifth draw of the season after failing to claim the last Reading wicket.

"It was a very good performance from us last week," he said.

"I don't know how much to take from the table at this stage. I think it is a little bit early to judge with all the rain we had before.

"We just need to keep building on the matches we have had.

"I'm quite positive and I know the guys are as well."

Third-placed Henley host top dogs High Wycombe.

Kidlington captain Mark Strong is keeping his feet on the ground for their trip to Division 2 West leaders Farnham Royal.

Strong's side have made an impressive start to life in the Home Counties Premier League and risen to fourth in the table.

But Farnham are unbeaten and should prove Kidlington's toughest test yet.

Strong said: Falkland will be a different than Bicester last week.

"If we can get the best part of a draw, we'll be happy with that.

"I don't know that much about them, but I know they have a bowler called Santokie, who gets a lot of wickets."

All-rounder Mali Richards is unavailable, so veteran bowler Jim Blackford comes in.

Strong said: "Jim got seven wickets for the seconds last week. He is old, but reliable.

"We will miss Mali, but you are always going to have soemone out."

Sam Lachlan returns from holiday to replace dad Angus for Thame Town's home clash with Beaconsfield.

Batsman Alan Crawford is also back in the side, so Ed Barnett drops out, while Kevin Crawford is on holiday.

Captain Adam Krol vowed to bounce back after their eight-wicket loss at Wokingham, which came despite scoring 334-7.

Krol said: "It was pretty disappointing. We certainly didn't play to our usual discipline in the field.

"All of us owe a performance in the field. We all need to improve and I'm sure we will do.

"Despite the manner of the loss, it was only one defeat. We just have to go out there and be positive."

Bicester & North Oxford skipper Ian Bryan has asked his players for more of the same against Gerrards Cross.

Although they lost by five wickets at Kidlington, the hosts only sealed it in the final ten overs.

Bicester welcome back Jon Watkins, and Talsania brothers Shiv and Krishnan.

"I thought we played a lot better than we have for the last few weeks, but obviously not good enough," said Bryan.

"We should have quite a strong side tomorrow. Hopefully we can get the right result."
