BANBURY will supply five of the Oxfordshire side to face Wales in the Minor Counties Championship Western Division at White Post Road.

And the host club could provide a sixth player when play starts on Sunday should batsman Charlie Knightley be ruled out by teaching commitments.

Captain Ian Hawtin, who also keeps wicket for Banbury, said: "We have got a slight doubt over Charlie because Felsted School where he works are playing in a Twenty20 competition.

"If they win their semi-final, they will be playing again on Monday, so Charlie would be tied up there.

"If so, Richard Kaufman (last year's Banbury captain) will replace him."

The other Banbury men selected are in-form batsmen Chris Smith and Craig Haupt, plus spinners Luke Ryan and Jimmy Phillips.

Smith scored a fine century and a 50 in Oxon's last championship game against Herefordshire.

Hawtin said: "The pitch at Hereford was tricky and Chris showed what a good player he is to get those runs.

"We were very close to beating them. We didn't bat or bowl particularly well in the first innings, but kept going.

"Being bowled out by Hereford gave us the chance of winning when we were unlikely to have declared on that score and it nearly worked out."

Knightley would replace Paddy Stern, while Oxford's Adam Cook comes in for Banbury's Ian Tew.

Batsman Rob Williams is still out injured with a broken toe sustained against Cornwall.

Wales escaped with a draw in their last match against Wiltshire and lie sixth in the table, three points ahead of ninth-placed Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire: Smith (Banbury), Si Hole (Oxford), Haupt (Banbury), Cook (Oxford), Knightley (Bishop Stortford), Hewitt (Whitstable), Hawtin (capt), Ryan, J Phillips (all Banbury), Newhook (Bourton Vale), Arnold (Banbury Twenty).
