Kennington’s Steven Sheard captured the men’s individual crown with victory over teammate Mark Trafford at the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford & District League finals night at the Gladiators Club, writes PETE EWINS.
Sheard scored 21,210 over two legs, with breaks of 11,360 and 9,850. He also took the off the spot title with a 5,500-4,890 win over Masons’ Mick Murphy, and was named player of the year.
In the ladies’ individual final, Didcot’s Sue Atkins beat defending champion Pauline Withey 10,580-3,220 over two legs.
Berinsfield’s Geoff and Craig Mace were crowned pairs champions with a 21,350-20,870 win against Alan Oliver and Ian Moss over four legs.
Vikings upset Premier champions Kennington 4-1 in the Scotland Ash Cup final.
Alan Lacey (6,670) and Moss (4,010) won the opening two games, before Mark Trafford pulled back with a 8,970-2,140 victory over Bob Allsworth.
Mick Jones (5,600) and Oliver (6,670) took the last two frames.
Masons B beat their A side 3-2 in the Scotland Ash Plate final.
Dave Butt and Andy Webb put the B team 2-0 up only for the A side to level through Dave Rose (5,430) and Alan Lowe.
Chris Webb won the match for the B side, beating Brian Rose with a score of 8,350.
Vikings edged out Masons A 3-2 in the Team Knockout Cup Group A final. Oliver (9,050), Mike Jones (9,110) and Moss (10,310) shone for the victors.
Sixteen-year-old Luke Storch was Comrades Club’s hero in their 3-2 win over Marlborough Club in the Group B final.
With the match all-square at 2-2, Storch beat Jon Scoones.
Terry Coleman defeated Masons’ Webb 18,750-11,830 over two games in a cracking Bill Moore Cup final.
Webb reeled off a break of 11,390 to take the first frame 11,640-5,470.
But Coleman stormed back with a run of 12,370 – the highest break of the night – to post 13,280 and claim victory.
Democrats’ Richard Garrett took the Kernahan Cup, beating Sid Ponting 11,160-1,840.
Dave Rose lifted the Pat Webber Cup by beating Bob Pincombe, while Lewis Stratford lifted the Never Won Cup final, defeating Dave Gordon 2-0.
Stratford also took the Pete Ewins award.
Withey was top scorer in the threes, taking the decider in Kennington’s 4-2 win over Vikings.
Ian Gordon won the merit award.
