OXFORD City’s juniors cruised to victory in their National Young Athletes League Midland 1 South East meeting at Horspath Road.
With the team severely depleted by Oxford United playing at Wembley, those that competed performed well to ease in.
Beth Mulvany jumped a personal best of 4.06m in the long jump and cleared 1.15m in the high jump.
In the boys’ competition, there were 100m victories for Alfie Howlett (under 13), David Sonan (under 15) and Tom Downs (under 17).
Matthew Gain won the under 15 200m and Downs did likewise in the under 17 race.
Result: 1 Oxford City 583pts, 2 Leamington 342, 3 Swindon 260.
l PAUL Fernandez, of Abingdon Amblers, finished second in the 33-mile mostly off-road Marlboro-ugh Downs Challenge in a time of 3hrs 53 mins 27secs.
Fernandez beat the existing course record, but was second on the day two minutes behind Allen Smalls, the England 100km runner.
