Oxford Cheetahs' team manager Graeme Gordon pulled no punches when reflecting on last week's defeat against Coventry.

"We were well beaten," he said. "We were on the back-foot all night, and no mucking about our boys were just not good enough.

"We weren't making starts, but I don't know why.

"The track wasn't any different to the week before, a couple of guys were struggling with clutch problems. Coventry came here, made the starts and thoroughly deserved their victory.

"Todd Wiltshire has been phenomenal, he's riding as well as any one in the Elite League and it's great to have him in the team.

"He's committed to making the starts, and it's all happening for him.

"He needs some back-up though, and in Ales Dryml, Aaron and I think we have found the right man."

Wiltshire said: "It's tough coming up against a world class rider like Scott Nichols, but it was nice to have over on him.

"I knew Scott was putting everything into it, I was as well.

"He was riding hard and I knew I had to pick my game up.

"Unfortunately there are no simple answers to why things work and why they don't.

"We all had a bit of a boost with the display at Reading, we pushed them all the way and there was some confidence, so I don't have answers as to what happened tonight."

Wiltshire went on to say that despite Cheetahs struggling, he has no regrets about coming back to Sandy Lane.

"It's been an absolute pleasure to come back here.

"I haven't come to resurrect my career, I retired gracefully.

"I have come back now to rebuild my life and have some fun again, and thank God, things are going well for me.

"Things are different. I have the time now to help the rest of the team.

"It's like being a cricketer when things are going well they see the ball the size of a football, well, that's happening to me right now."
