Banbury's hopes of progressing in the Cockspur Cup were dashed when they bowed out 5-2 in a bowl-out against West Indian Cavaliers in the second round.

With the match at White Post Road cancelled due to a waterlogged outfield, the two sides made their way to Bloxham School's indoor sports hall to decide the tie.

Craig Haupt and Luke Ryan were successful with one of their two attempts, but Simon Launder and Jimmy Phillips who hit the stumps with a no ball failed.

With the Nottingham-based visitors already 5-2 ahead with one player from each side left to bowl, Ollie Murrey wasn't required to take aim.

Meanwhile, Banbury opened their defence of the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup with an eight-wicket win over Bicester & North Oxford at Chesterton.

Seamer Paul Robbins (3-4) and left-arm spinner Luke Ryan (3-19) did the damage as Bicester were restricted to 73-9 from their 20 overs in the first-round tie.

Skipper Benji Hector then hit an unbeaten 42 to steer Banbury to 76-2.

Witney Mills were handed a walkover after Eynsham withdrew.

All games washed out on Tuesday are due to be played tomorrow.
