Morrells of Oxford Sunday League: Star Wanderers snatched a vital three points to move away from the Premier Division relegation zone with a 3-0 victory at home to Mansfield Road.

Mansfield Road agreed to play the game at Eynsham as their ground was unavailable, and probably rued the move as Star raced to victory.

They took the lead three minutes before half-time when Stuart Tarr put pressure on the Mansfield keeper, who dropped the ball, allowing the Star striker to stab home.

Five minutes into the second half, Simon Burton latched onto a Tarr flick-on to fire home.

Then soon after, James Butler's run down the wing ended with a cross to Jamie Hodges who netted No 3.

In Division 1, Wolvercote edged out leaders Barton United 4-3 a result that could well see the title going Wolvercote's way.

After a goalless first half, Barton opened the scoring five minutes into the second half.

But with 15 minutes left, it all got frenetic as Wolvercote took the lead with two goals in two minutes.

Bailey Harman netted the first, then Steve McMahon's delightful 25-yard lob put them in front.

Barton levelled almost immediately, but Carl Smith was on hand to make it 3-2 to Wolvercote.

Barton hit back again, then with two minutes remaining, Mathew Spooner weaved his way through the Barton defence to bag the winner.

Although Barton remain five points clear, Wolvercote have three games in hand and look favourites for the title.

Chalgrove continued their recent good form in Division 2 with a 4-1 victory at OSI.

Jonathan Skiller opened the scoring, then Paul Coles doubled the lead with a 30-yard strike.

Lee Cantwell and Pete Clarke completed the scoring.

Berinsfield saw off Club 66-86 7-4.

Steve Bateman led the way with a hat-trick, with Simon Brown, Lee Allmond, Mennan Calvo and Brian Honer scoring the others.

In midweek, Oxford Yellows thrashed Chalgrove 9-0.

Ronnie Kababwe and Ian Lovegrove both grabbed doubles, with Sean Flaherty, Daniel Warne, Craig Hanlon, Neil Hanlon and Tom Gaughan completing the rout.

OSI got the better of Club 66-86 with a 6-3 victory, with three goals coming in the last 15 minutes.

Pete Walker, Michael Clark and Rindhi Benditi all scored doubles for OSI, with Mark Gaul and John O'Neil (2) replying.
