FATHER and son Geoff and Craig Mace, from the Berinsfield Club, are through to the semi-finals of the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford & District League pairs competition after a 3-1 win over Gladiators’ Bob Pincombe and Phil Clark on the Masons table.
The Maces took the first two frames 8,780-7,250 and 12,080-290, with Geoff recording breaks of 8,780 and 6,020.
The Gladiators pair made it 2-1, winning 8,000-370, but the Berinsfield double act made sure with a 6,800-1,650 victory.
In the men’s individual, Bob Allsworth earned a quarter-final showdown with Sean Stratford after beating Simon Ellam 2-0 at Berinsfield.
In the Kernahan Cup at Shelley, Democrats’ Richard Garrett beat teammate Bob Parson, while Sid Ponting saw off Terry Green.
Steven Sheard is through to the semi-final of the off-the-spot competition, defeating Lewis Stratford at Dolphin, while Sean Stratford overcame Ian Gordon to earn himself a quarter-final spot.
Vikings’ Mike Jones beat Masons’ Dave Rose 7,800-7,180 at Headington.
Meanwhile, Alan Oliver took the honours in the Committee Cup final with a 11,720-3,520 triumph over Dave Tooke.
- Oxford Ladies beat Oxford C 4-1 at Didcot in the Inter-area C side competition.
Pauline Withey (4,280), Jenny Florey (7,860) and Sue Atkins (7,480) took the first three games and Mel Stanbridge’s walkover against Masons’ Chris Webb made it 4-0. Craig Mace saved the whitewash, beating Sandra Tebby 3,430-1,230.
