Oxfordshire Charity Cup
KRISTIAN Thomas hit a hat-trick as Kidlington Old Boys sprang a surprise with a 3-1 win at Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division outfit Bletchingdon in the quarter-finals.
There was no sign of an upset as Rocky Whiting gave Bletchingdon the lead after just 38 seconds.
But Thomas equalised for the Division 1 visitors before the break, and then scored two more in the second half to complete his treble.
Now Kidlington are away to Garsington in the semi-finals on Saturday, March 27 after they edged past Rover Cowley 3-2 in the battle between the Senior League’s top two.
Jelroy Constant bagged a brace for Garsington with Carl Bloomfield also on target, while Charlie Bough’s double for the leaders proved in vain.
Horspath, of the Premier Division, ran out 3-0 winners at Division 1 leaders Mansfield Road.
Paul Cooper gave Horspath a half-time lead, and they sealed victory after the break with Rob Cattell notching his first goal for the club, before Ben Curtis hit No 3.
Horspath will be away to Premier Division rivals Stonesfield in the last four after they won 3-0 at home to Division 1 side Broughton & North Newington.
Controversy surrounded Stonesfield’s opener when the hosts broke away with Broughton expecting to be awarded a free-kick, and Nick Clarke passed to Nick Higgs to slot home.
The outstanding James Clarke lashed home a free-kick to double Stonesfield’s advantage before the break.
And they sealed victory in the second half when Nick Bucknall exchanged passes with Tom Higgs smashing a cross-shot into the top corner.
