Oxford City boss Mike Ford is looking for James Faulkner to repay his faith in the striker after snapping him up from Abingdon United.

The hitman was expected to sign for the Premier Division side for the third time last night.

He was at City last season, but left to join Aylesbury before linking up with Abingdon.

“We need a bit more pace and strength up front,” said Ford, who is without Mark Bell (thigh) and Jamie Brooks (groin)for Saturday's home game against Leamington.

“He has been with us twice before, and I’m not normally one to have players back because usually it means they haven’t been good enough.

“With James it’s different. There is no doubting his ability, but the pressure he put on himself got him into trouble with officials and even his own teammates.

“He struggled in his first spell. He did great last season before he left because we had some problems.

“If you are effing and blinding at everyone then it sends out the wrong signals.

“Myself and the chairman (Brian Cox) have had a few chats with him and he understands what we want.

“This is his last chance with us.”

Milner is unavailable while Baldwin has been recalled from his loan spell by Gloucester City.

Midfielder Nathan Haisley is likely to be drafted in as centre half.

Manager Billy Jeffrey said his side would revert to the system that served them so well earlier in the season.

“A couple of games ago we changed our shape (to 4-4-2) and it didn’t quite work, so we will go back to 3-5-2.”
