Adam Murray is suspended for one match after collecting his fifth yellow card last Saturday, and he misses tonight’s match.
A number of fans have asked me when bans take effect.
Making it much easier for supporters, and players, to understand, all suspensions now begin immediately.
United secretary and general man-ager Mick Brown said: “There is no longer a seven-day gap.
“They have changed it this season so that a suspension only comes if a player receives five, or ten yellow cards, by the turn of the year.
“It used to be much later in the season, but the league have recognised the large number of games that take place in the first part of the season.”
Any player who picks up five bookings before December 31 gets a one-match ban – which has already happened with Damian Batt, James Constable, Matt Green and now Murray.
And any player who collects ten bookings by the turn of the year receives a two-match ban.
Constable knows he needs to tread carefully.
