Banbury United boss Billy Jeffrey has hailed the efforts of his players and called for more of the same at Hemel Hempstead in the Zamaretto Soutehrn League Premier Division on Saturday.

Last weekend, Banbury fou-ght back to beat Hednesford 3-2, thanks to a last-gasp winner from David Stone.

The previous week they beat high-fliers Nuneaton at home.

“It was a fantastic win. They are probably the best side we have played this season,” said Jeffrey.

“For a young side – we have six teenagers in the team – the have done very well.

“The players’ workrate has been fantastic.

“After the defeat by Woodford (they lost 2-1) we reminded them that you have to do more than just turn up, and the response has been excellent.

“We will be doing the same before Saturday’s game. Hemel haven’t been doing that well, but they’re still a good side.”

Oxford City boss Mike Ford has urged his side to get back to the form that saw them run Burton so close in the FA Cup at former club Brackley Town.

Although City lost 3-2, Ford who was boss at Brackley for 18 months, said it is vital City got back on a good run.

“We have scraped a few results together,” said Ford.

“But without making any excuses, we have been so short of players. Now though, apart from Lee Steele (hamstring) and Richard Knight (thigh), we have a full squad to chose from and can have a go at getting in the play-offs.

“We need to start winning games and performing on a regular basis.”

He added: “I enjoyed my time at Brackley and the team I left won promotion to the Premier Division the next season.”

Stuart Peace is warning his Didcot Town side about complacency at home to Rugby Town.

Although Rugby are bottom, Peace, who gives Michael Alexis his home debut, said: “They haven’t won all season and that has to end, so we need to make sure it’s not us.”

They are without Ian Sampson (suspended), though Andy Williams returns.

Midfielder Jamie Jackson returns for North Leigh when they host VT FC in Division 1 South & West.

They are without Andrew Helby and Matt Taylor (suspended). The game is in doubt due to waterlogging.
