Hednesford Tn 4 (Dyer pen 7, Jagielka 14, Durrell 24, Goodhead 76)

Oxford City 2 (Malone 62, Baird 82)

Oxford City had a Saturday to forget as they went down to defeat in the Premier Division on Saturday.

It brought to an end their nine-match unbeaten league run.

They must have known it wasn’t to be their day when their coach failed to arrive to pick them up causing the start to be delayed for half-an-hour.

And it got worse for City when they fell behind early on after Andy Gunn handled a corner from Elliott Durrell, Ross Dyer beating City’s on-loan Cheltenham keeper Will Puddy with the resulting spot-kick.

Their misery worsened when former Stoke City striker Steve Jagielka drove home from the edge of the area after the City defence failed to clear their lines.

The visitors hit back when defender James Clarke went on a penetrating run, only to see his decent strike pushed away by former Leicester keeper Gavin Ward.

But with the driving rain and wind to their advantage, the home side made it 3-0 through Durrell, who scored after fastening on to a long clearance.

It could have been worse, but Puddy made a decent save to deny Tyrone Barnett.

After the break, City, came out strongly and their pressure paid off when midfielder Liam Malone scored with an individual effort.

Try as they might City found it hard to add further goals and they were punished when Grant Goodhead scored a fourth following a corner Ward made a good block to thwart Darren Pond, but from the resulting corner Andy Baird headed in City’s second.

But by then the damage had already been done.
