North Leigh 0

AFC Totton 2 (Gosney 14, Taylor 68)

North Leigh went down to defeat against high-flying visitors AFC Totton, despite a determined display in the Division 1 South & West clash. The hosts made a bright start and should have gone ahead on four minutes as Ben Reardon’s low cross found Alfie Saunders who turned and shot just wide of a post.

Seconds later, Simon Futcher’s curling shot just cleared the crossbar.

But despite the home side’s early running, it was the visitors who went ahead when Michael Gosney's deep left wing cross floated over Sam Warrell and went in off the far post.

Five minutes later, Warrell made an outstanding save from Gosney.

North Leigh came back strongly to control the rest of the half and were unlucky not to be level as an angled Andy McCabe shot was inches wide, before Saunders saw his effort deflected for a corner.

In the second half, Futcher’s wind-assisted shot almost caught out Totton keeper’s Gareth Barfoot when it hit the top of the crossbar.

But it was all over for Mark Gee’s outfit when James Taylor pounced on an uncleared cross to double Totton's lead.

North Leigh: Worrall, Jackson (Burnell 11), Allen, Posey, Huxley, Hole, Reardon, Saunders, McCabe, Futcher, Caton (Helby 73). Subs not used: Curtin, Gee.
