Cowley Workers Club celebrated their first win of the season in the Premier Section with a 3-2 home victory over Democrats Club, writes PETE EWINS.

Dave Bartlett (5,170) Mick Stratford and Sean Stratford (7,620) were victorious for Cowley Workers, with John Patey (7,080) and Richard Garrett (6,960) replying.

Vikings Club are now joint leaders after a 5-0 home triumph over Berinsfield Club.

Alan Oliver (8,000), Mike Jones (11,270) Bob Allsworth (5,380) Alan Lacey (5,570) and Terry Coleman (5,560) were cock-a-hoop for the victors.

They are now level with Kennington Club, who won 3-2 at Didcot Conservative Club.

Mark Trafford (6,580) won first against the break, before Stuart Florey made it 1-1.

Kevin Godfrey (11,980, break 10,660) put Kennington 2-1 up only for Dennis Atkins (7,290) to make it all square.

Ian Gordon, who remains unbeaten, reeled off a break of 6,800 in a 8,470-1,270 win over Dave Tooke.

Section 2 side Gladiators A whitewashed their B side 5-0.

Frank Cox beat a stubborn Reg Johnson 4,450-3,560 to take the first leg against the break.

Neil Cunliffe then knocked the black peg over chasing a last-ball win, which let in Malcolm Lee to make it 2-0.

Bob Pincombe (8,020) and Bert Lovegrove (7,190) increa-sed the lead, before star man Keith Gardner completed the rout with a 12,630-4,500 win over Phil Clark, including a break of 10,500.

Leaders Marlborough lost 3-2 at home to Comrades Club.

Simon Ellam (5,030), Chris Storch (4,120) and Chris Alexander won for the visitors.

Headington Conservative Club are the new leaders in Section 3 after a 3-2 win at Shelley.
