EAST Oxford celebrated another magnificent season as they collected three trophies at the OCA League’s annual presentation evening at Drayton Park Golf Club, near Abingdon.

Former England and Middlesex bowler Angus Fraser was the guest speaker for the evening, and he also presented the glittering array of trophies.

East Oxford’s first team captain Sarfraz Hussain collected the League Challenge Bowl as Division 1 champions, while their second team picked up the Osberton Radiators Cup.

To complete a successful treble, East Oxford’s third team captain Riswaan Abassi collected the Keith Crump Centenary Cup.

It’s been a remarkable rise for East Oxford, who were only formed in 2003 and began life in Division 7.

In their seven years, their first team have won every division at the first attempt.

Next season, the club will target the prestigious Airey Cup to complete a full set of trophies.

Tetsworth chairman Frank Eley collected the Airey Cup, which they won with a massive 160-run victory over Westbury.

Witney Swifts were also there in force as they picked up the Division 3 Challenge Cup and Telegraph Cup.

There was also a moment of personal triumph for youngster George Seacole, who collected the George Panting Memorial Trophy as the league’s young player of the year, just getting the nod ahead of Horley’s Harry Smith.

Combe took the Division 4 trophy, while Chadlington put behind them the disappointment of missing out the previous year by claiming the Division 5 trophy.

New boys Cairns Fudge were another team to collect more than one award, picking up the Division 6 championship trophy and the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup.

Garsington 2nd claimed the Division 7 trophy, just a year after winning the Division 8 title.

The Hawthorn Award for batting went to Northleach Town’s former Zimbabwean Test player Neil Ferreira.

He finished the season with a remarkable average of 102.

Radley’s Richard Cook took the Boyd-Maunsell Cup as the league’s bowler of the year.

Cook finished with an outstanding average of 7.39.

The Hawthorn Trophy for Sportsmanship went to new members Stanton St John Willows.
