Somersby, from Henrietta Knight’s West Lockinge stables, near Wantage, earned a quote of 16-1 for the Arkle Trophy after making a winning debut over fences at Warwick on Wednesday.
The five-year-old romped home by 14 lengths in the Commscope And Anixter Business Partner Novices' Chase under Paul Moloney.
Knight said: “He did a great job, but still has a bit more to learn, although it was very good considering it was his first time over fences.”
