The smallest of margins separate Oxford Harlequins and Chinnor ahead of Saturday's derby clash in National 3 South West (2.30).

And as a result, neither side is clear favourite for the match at the Southern Bypass ground.

Chinnor and Quins are level on 23 points, but the former have a points difference advantage of just three.

Quins’ director of rugby John Brodley said: “We are on a good run and just hope to keep that going.

“We are at home, so the players are confident, but not over-confident.

“We know if we play well, we’ll be very competitive against them.

“The crucial thing is to enjoy the occasion, being a local derby.

“But at the end of the day, it doesn’t define our season.”

Quins add hooker Dave Needham and utility back Andy Noyce to their squad.

Centre Darren Oxley and wings James Serrano and Eric Brown comes into the Chinnor ranks.

Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers said: “Everyone is looking forward to putting things right after a fluctuating performance last Saturday.

“Although it is a club derby, I think for the majority of players, it is another game of rugby and one that we need to win.”

Experienced scrum half James Gaunt starts for Henley Hawks at home to Dings Crusaders in National 2 South.

Gaunt replaces Jack Shaylor, while Jim Hadfield comes in for Alex Penny at tight-head prop.

Dings, who drew with Rosslyn Park last week, are coached by former Henley full back Jim Farndon and should feature ex-Hawks flanker Stean Williams.

Henry Venners replaces Ralph Smith at full back for Wallingford’s trip to South West 1 East pacesetters Marlow.

Prop Ed Jenkins returns on the bench after a long absence against a side whose player-coach is former England No 8 Chris Sheasby.

Wallingford coach Chris Norrington said: “It will be nice to come up against him. Hopefully, it will bring out the best in our players.”

He added: “We beat Walcot two weeks ago and Marlow lost to them last week, so on that basis we’ll win!”
