EDDIE Pepperell came within one shot of equalling Southfield’s amateur course record when competing in an Oxford City GC medal.

The 18-year-old England international, who is also a member at Frilford Heath and Drayton Park, fired a 64 in Division 1 of Medal 6.

But because he plays off a handicap of plus three, his score of 67 was good enough only for third place.

The Southfield record of 63 was set by Ian Bound in 2005.

l TADMARTON Heath’s Katherine O’Connor helped Wales retain the Ladies Home International Championships at Irvine in Scotland.

In the deciding match aga-inst Scotland, O’Connor beat Great Britain & Ireland international Pamela Pretswell 2&1.

l STUDLEY Wood’s Olivia Herring won the Midlands South Girls High Handicap Jamboree at Gay Hill GC after notching up 39 points off her 35 handicap.

She was one of three Oxfordshire girls to enter the competition the others being Cara Gainer, from Frilford Heath, and Chipping Norton’s Imogen Vessey.

The girls just missed out on the runners-up slot in the team prize on countback.

l CHIPPING Norton defeated Brailes 3-0 at Hadden Hill to retain the Oxfordshire Junior League title.

Their winning team was George Kay and Charles Rose who won 4 & 3, Chris Dyer and Richard Whiston (2 up), as well as Imogen Vessey and Jordan Tew (4 & 3).

l THREE Oxfordshire golfers are among 32 amateurs competing in the Audi Quattro UK Cup final at Bowood, Wiltshire, next Wednesday.

The top two pairs will then go on to the World Cup Final in Australia in December.

Richard Campbell, a 19-handicap member of West Berks, from Childrey, near Wantage, will partner clubmate John Selby, while Frilford Heath members Brian Claringbold (handicap 4) and David Pimm (6) have teamed up.
