MATT Green hopes to continue his love affair with the Kassam Stadium as Blue Square Premier table-toppers Oxford United take on Stevenage today (3pm).

The 22-year-old striker relishes playing at home – and it’s not hard to see why.

In his first spell at Oxford, in 2007-8, he banged in six goals in eight games at the Kassam Stadium.

And, after netting in each of the home wins over York and Chester this season, he has now struck eight goals in his ten Oxford appearances on the ground.

He even experienced that winning feeling when with Torquay at the Kassam Stadium last season, so it’s clearly a place where he feels very comfortable.

“I just love the Kassam,” he said.

“I’ve got nothing but great memories there and great times, and long may they live.

“It’s a great start to the season, and both Beano (James Constable) and I are really enjoying ourselves at the moment, as is the team as a whole, and leading the table is a great place to be.

“We know it’s going to be tough against Stevenage, but we treated Chester as a tough game.

“They held us 0-0 at half-time and frustrated us, but we were patient enough to get a result, and it could be the same against Stevenage.

“I don’t want to shout off to anyone in case things don’t go our way, but at the moment we’re a confident team. As long as we get a result, we don’t care how we win.”

Manager Chris Wilder is not expecting to make many changes.

“The front four were exceptional the other night and I can’t see me changing much there,” he admitted.

“You never know how Stevenage are going to go about it mentally, with their game and how their going to go about it tactically.”
