The relatively new Angling Trust, which was set up to represent anglers throughout the country, is cutting back its central operation in Nottingham and Leominster, writes Andy Webber.

The Trust is struggling to recruit new members and rising costs are threatening its viability.

A statement from the trust’s board said: “Of four million anglers, less than one per cent have joined the Trust. Many more were expected to have signed up and we were not confident the organisation could continue to provide sufficient service to members without making savings.”

I think that we should all join this organisation so we have a voice.

l BOTH reservoirs at Farmoor have been lowered by half a metre to allow further construction on a new pontoon and both have developed an algal bloom.

Farmoor I is slightly clearer with a few trout coming out, but Farmoor II is very hard, just the odd fish being taken from boats, usually to large boobies.

Bob Eccles took six fish on diawl bachs and a long leader before the bloom started.

Over at Lechlade, Bushy-leaze Lake is fishing well, with surface activity good during the day.

Dry daddies on the dropper with a buzzer underneath are proving successful and damsel nymphs are also working well.

Last month, 531 anglers caught 1,634 fish. Lechlade lake remains closed.
