Magdalen College School, Oxford, are celebrating a cup double.

They beat Abingdon by 84 runs in the Oxfordshire final of the Lord’s Taverner’s Under 14 Trophy, and also recorded an 18-run win over Burford in the Oxfordshire Under 13 Cup final.

Michael Forrest top-scored with 30 as MCS made 162-8 in the county’s Lord’s Taverner’s decider, before Abingdon were bowled out for 78, Ben Hambidge taking 3-23.

In the semi-finals, Magdalen defeated Abingdon by 82 runs.

Rafe Senior-Garrett hit 27 of MCS’s 122-9 and then Charlie Milner took 4-4 as Abingdon collapsed to 40 all out.

A fine all-round team performance saw MCS triumph at under 13.

They posted 108-4 with Nick Haubecoeur-Wilks making 25, before restricting Burford to 90-6, despite Joe Barrett making an unbeaten 58.

Matthew Butcher and Archie Wimborne combined to bowl Bartholomew (Eynsham) out for 30 and give Abingdon an emphatic 106-run victory in the Oxfordshire final of the Bunbury Under 12 Cup.

Butcher (4-4) and Wimborne (4-8) ripped through the Bartholomew batsmen after Abingdon had rattled up 136-1 with Alex Grantham hitting an excellent unbeaten 59 and Rhodri Lewis making 42.

Abingdon had been pushed much harder in the semi-finals, scraping home by one wicket and with two balls to spare against MCS, who had been shot out for 69.
