Chinnor hung on to win 23-19 at Barking and record their first victory of the National 3 South campaign.

The visitors had led 23-6, but there was constant Barking pressure in the final ten minutes.

Chinnor's strong bench of Harry Jackman, returning after a long injury, Bob Baker, Alan Cawston and Chris Rowley helped them hold on.

Richard Williams's kick through took a kindly bounce for Pip Seymour to score under the posts and James Cathcart convert in the fifth minute.

Cathcart made it 10-0 with a well-struck penalty, while his rival fly half Harry Owens replied in kind.

Chinnor went further ahead with a delightfully worked try from a set piece.

Moving the ball at pace, Williams entered the line to put Alex Wallace over for his first Chinnor try, which Cathcart converted.

Cathcart kicked another penalty, a foot injury forced Seymour off and Owens slotted his second penalty.

The wind was with Barking after the break, and two Owens penalties, plus his conversion of Redmond Newbury's try, gave them real hope.

Chinnor saw hooker Athur Ellis sin-binned, but Cathcart went close with two penalties and Barking's Bob Batho was yellow-carded for a high tackle.

Neil Baggett bagged a hat-trick of tries and Pete Davies a brace as Henley Hawks defeated Bridgwater & Albion 43-20 at Dry Leas.

The bonus point victory took Henley up to third in the table and gave the crowd some of the best entertainment they had witnessed in years.

The first half hour saw Hawks fly half Tommy Turner and his opposite number Luke Cozens twice trade penalties.

Hawks took control when lock Dave Clements's flick allowed centre Baggett to wrong-foot the defence and score under the posts with Turner converting.

Bridgwater lock Dan Hodge was then sin-binned and Henley capitalised with wing Davies sprinting in from 60 metres after flanker Stean Williams's big hit caused the ball to spill.

Turner added two more penalties after the break.

Hawks gained a man advantage again when replacement flanker Dave Kimberley was yellow-carded before Baggett out-ran the defence to touch down.

A yellow card for Clements gave Bridgwater impetus with Cozens and Hodge going over, both of which Cozens converted.

Henley's bonus point came with Baggett completing his treble and he then also converted Davies's second in the final minute.
