It's all-change for women's tennis in Oxford- shire.

Nearly all of the well-known names who have steered the county to Group 1 twice in the last eight years have moved aside to let the rising stars step into the limelight.

And although it will mean almost certain relegation from Group 3 when the action gets under way in Worthing on Monday, it bodes well for the years to come.

Caroline Jones, Claire Taylor, Imogen Wyatt, Lizzie Jelfs, Gilliard Card and Lucy Collinson are all missing from the Oxon team.

Collinson is still not playing tennis after snapping her Achilles tendon in the Winter County Week, Jelfs and Wyatt have work committments, while Taylor and Jones are struggling with child care.

But while Collinson is likely to play again when fit, whether the others return in the future is debatable.

It means that Cressida Henderson, who is set for her 24th County Week, will captain the side, with Mandy Nall the only other player over the age of 20.

Sisters Alex and Beth Simmonds, Nadine Steward, Lindsey Ackland, Millie Milsom, Ciara Kelly and Holly Hoare make up the squad.

And of those, Henderson, Milsom and Hoare are all carrying injuries!

Lucy Brown and Amanda Carreras, two names certain to have been in the squad, are both playing in other tournaments.

Grace Lymer-Sullivan and Georgina Todd may join the squad later in the week.

"We are very much a team in transition," Henderson said.

"We know we are going to be up against it, but we will give it our all.

"Mandy Nall has been very loyal and it is great that she will be with us again next week, but we have to look at things positively in that we have such a young team who will be getting lots of very good experience."
