Two lady golfers called Pat defied incredible odds to ace the same hole as they played each other in a club match.

Pat Dale, 71, and Pat Lacy holed-in-one at the 137-yard par three sixth on Frilford Heath's Green Course.

And with 20-handicapper Lacy, having also aced the same hole - with the same club - in May, this week's feat gave the pair a 'Pat-trick'!

Dale, who plays off 19, said: "We both used five woods as we are just two little old ladies.

"Pat went first and we saw her shot go in.

"I just said, this is for a half, and it went in as well.

"I was stunned and still am now.

"There were two chaps playing the 12th and Pat said to them 'we just hit two holes in one'.

"We had to tell some- one."

Dale, who lives in Wootton, said their celebrations in the clubhouse had been fairly low key and most members didn't learn of their feat until the next day.

She added: "I'm quite happy with my 15 minutes of fame.

"But after that, I shall sink back into anonymity."

This was Dale's first hole-in-one since taking up golf in 1969, while Lacy, from Headington, is making a habit of it.

The shots took different routes to the hole, with Lacy going right and Dale left, but the end result was something neither will ever forget.

Lacy ended up winning the President's Cup match 2 & 1 - but it wasn't the result everyone was talking about in the bar afterwards.
