OXFORD Chargers moved back to the top of the National League with a handsome 60-30 victory against Berwick Bullets.

The win was Chargers’ biggest of the season and maintained the club’s 100 per cent record at Oxford Stadium this year, while making it eight successive victories.

Henry Atkins and Jordan Jenkins again impressed, with the former scoring a full 15-point maximum, while Jenkins took a paid maximum (13+2).

There were also heat wins on the night for Jacob Clouting, Jason Garrard, Ryan Kinsley and Jody Scott.

Berwick may be bottom of the National League, but they put up a fight early on, with the scores level at 12-12 after four races.

The Chargers then took three 5-1s and a 4-2 in the next four races to take control.

All three points, including the aggregate bonus point, were in the bag with four races to go, while the Chargers finished with a hat-trick of 5-1s to reach 60 points for the first time in 2023.

Chargers boss Peter Schroeck said: “That was a great result for us. We were favourites and while we targeted victory before the meeting, we were all thrilled to break the 60-point mark.

“It shows the boys have clicked as a team and as I keep saying, everyone in the pits is helping one another out, knowing we have the talent to go all the way in this league.

“We’ve had a good run of fixtures and results, and now we face our biggest test when travelling to Leicester on Saturday.”
