OXFORD Chargers can go top of the National League tonight by beating Berwick Bullets at Sandy Lane.

Unbeaten in their last seven fixtures, the Chargers can leapfrog league leaders Leicester Lion Cubs if they make it eight back-to-back wins.

Although the Bullets sit bottom of the table on just two points, Chargers boss Peter Schroeck believes the Northumberland side are better than their position suggests.

He said: “Berwick have had a difficult season, but I don’t believe their position in the table represents the team’s quality.

“They pushed us hard at Shielfield Park in June and we had to rely on a last heat maximum to secure the points.

“Therefore, we can’t rest on our laurels and assume our form in recent weeks will cancel out any threat they pose. We’ve got to keep it professional, and we’ve got to ride to our full potential.

“Doing so should place us in a good position before visiting Leicester on Saturday, which will be our biggest challenge of the season to date.

“Sunday’s win at Kent was great for the team and spirits remain high in the camp. But the job is far from done yet with four teams still pitching for a spot in the grand final, so we’re remaining grounded and level-headed knowing there’s a job to do.”
