PETER Schroeck says a more than seven-week gap between meetings will not be a concern for his Oxford Chargers side as they return to action tonight.

The Chargers welcome Workington Comets in the National League, after being away from the track for 53 days due to weather postponements.

Schroeck’s team are fourth in the table, but have two meetings in hand on top three sides Leicester Lion Cubs, Mildenhall Fen Tigers and Belle Vue Colts.

Skipper Jordan Jenkins will lead the hosts, alongside fellow Cheetahs teammates Henry Atkins and Luke Killeen. Jacob Clouting, Ryan Kinsley and Jody Scott fill the main body of the team, while Jason Garrad will make his debut more than a month after signing.

Schroeck said: “I’ve always had faith in this team to deliver and the weather has frustrated us all in recent weeks.

“But that’s an element we cannot control. What we can control is how we respond to our fixture break by delivering a good performance in front of our supporters.

“The boys have been racing elsewhere so being sharp at the tapes isn’t a concern. Workington are in need of points on the road so we’ll need to prepare accordingly and do what we had been doing successfully up until the conclusion of our last fixture.”
