OXFORD Cheetahs have been boosted by news that Sam Masters and Scott Nicholls will ride in tonight’s Championship visit to Redcar Bears.

Masters wasn’t selected to represent Australia at the Speedway World Cup in Poland, while Nicholls has committed to racing over media commitments on the World Championship tour.

Cheetahs team manager Peter Schroeck has also announced that Plymouth Gladiators’ Kyle Howarth will guest in place of Lewis Kerr, who remains on the sidelines following his crash at Berwick in June.

Schroeck said: “It’s a big boost to have Sam and Scott available for this meeting.

“Everyone in the squad rides Redcar well and we’re really pleased to secure Kyle Howarth as our guest for Lewi. Kyle has a decent record at this track so we’re confident he’ll fit into the team nicely.

“It’s going to be a tough test and our unbeaten record is certainly going on the line here. It’d be great to get the win and tee up Scunthorpe’s visit to Sandy Lane next week with another W in the bag.”

Redcar’s Erik Riss believes that the Bears can bring Oxford’s winning run to an end.

He said: “We are good enough to beat the Cheetahs and if we all perform up to our capabilities we can win.”

Meanwhile, Oxford Chargers’ two National League fixtures with Kent Royals have been rescheduled to take place next month.

The Chargers’ home tie, postponed on Wednesday, will now take place on August 8, with the away fixture pencilled in for August 20.
