MICK Holton was in sensational form as he clanged off 14 dolls (5-5-4) for The New Club in their 2-1 win at Gladiators A.

Only one doll separated the two teams over the three legs. In the opening leg, Gladiators could only muster up a set of 20, however that seemed to be enough until New Club’s anchor man Mark Washington whipped off the four dolls needed. New Club set and won the second leg 25-23, while in the final leg, New Club set with 24 and in reply Gladiators had to thank anchor man Kevin Baker to clang off the five dolls needed. He ended up with a baker’s dozen (4-4-5) as did Washington (4-5-4).

Premier leaders Black Prince scrapped a 2-1 win at home to Red Lion A Kidlington in a low-scoring game. Lion won the first leg 23-20 but that was to be their only success of the night as Black Prince won the next two legs 21-20, 25-22. The Swan A raced into a 2-0 lead at home to North Leigh FC when they won the first two legs 26-18, 24-20. North Leigh fought back well to win the final lag 28-21. Neil Pratley was top dog for North Leigh with 13 dolls (3-5-5).

Seacourt Bridge are still searching for their first win of the season after they lost to Gladiators B 2-1, however they only lost the final leg by the odd doll. Glad’s won the opener 15-12 while Seacourt levelled in the second leg by the smallest of margins thanks to anchor man Mark Gunther, when chasing a set of 15, who whipped off the four dolls needed to give a team total of 16. Glad’s won the final leg 21-20. The Blackbird tasted defeat for the first time this season when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Chequers A, who started off with a bang winning the opening leg 26-13. Blackbird levelled in the next leg 18-16. Chequers set and won the deciding leg 15-12.

Rose Hill Club A remain rooted at the foot of Section Three without a victory after they lost 2-1 at The Tandem, who set and won the first two legs 15-13. Rose Hill hit back in the final leg 18-17. Kidlington FC B top the table with a straightforward 3-0 win at home to Cricketers Arms, Henry Johnson led the way with 11 dolls (3-3-5).
